Airlines/Airports

John F. Kennedy, LaGuardia, Newark Liberty and Teterboro Airports

New York & New Jersey

Show Project Details

Security/CCTV design engineering services on an “as-needed” basis for the Capital Security Program projects at the Port Authority of NY/NJ operated metropolitan area airports. Engineering services included conceptual design, design development, and final system design and development. Integration and coordination with the Lenel based security management system was required. Design included CCTV systems, access control systems, perimeter security, fence/gate access control systems, biometric systems, solar power, wireless communication and long distance notification systems for the unmanned gates at each airport.

Long Island MacArthur Airport

Islip, NY

Show Project Details

The Confidential Security Report and schematic design summarizes existing airport security systems, reviews available Security/CCTV System technologies, potential needs for CCTV system coverage, and recommends systems that would best address the Airport’s security needs including a cost estimate. The recommended system included a CCTV system utilizing a digital recording system. The report addressed the considerations of an indoor/outdoor video surveillance system. The proposed CCTV system would provide coverage of the perimeter fence, tarmacs including the airplanes, jetways, airport equipment, runway lighting, etc. Exterior baggage handling was also included. The Report addressed the needs related to CCTV coverage in a public congregation transportation environment.

The CCTV equipment for the exterior areas was recommended for utilization in an outdoor environment and was commercially available off-the-shelf. Indoor CCTV coverage for the airport would include the check-in areas, passenger screening areas, gates, baggage claim, etc.

United Airlines, Terminal C

Newark Airport, NJ

Show Project Details

Cameron Engineering provided Structural Engineering Services for United Airlines, Terminal C at Newark Airport in New Jersey. This project consists of structural engineering services associated with anchoring five (5) new ceiling monitors above the new proposed kiosk at Terminals C, Mid-Level C2 at Newark Airport, New Jersey.

The Scope of work requires Cameron Engineering to perform calculations for the anchorage of the ceiling mounted monitors, perform structural calculations to determine that the supporting elements (pipes) of the ceiling mounted monitors are adequate, and develop/confirm the floor anchorage based on the worst case condition. The design load is based on the latest New Jersey Building Code and ASCE 7. Cameron Engineering is also performing calculations to determine that the existing structure members (floor framing members) are adequate to support the interior 5 PSF of wind load plus the weight of the ceiling mounted monitors. We will also redline the Architectural details associated to the ceiling mounted monitor connection to the existing structure and pipe support hanger.

Talon Air Hangar

Farmingdale, NY

Show Project Details

Talon Air identified a need to consolidate its operations to a new facility adjacent to their Republic Airport facility. The new building would be formed by two pre-engineered structures which consist of a 30,000 sq. ft. airplane hanger and a three-story corporate headquarters office building. The project involved demolishing an older industrial building and re-aligning a service road. To make the site ready for the new building foundations, site structures, drainage structures and existing foundation removals were required. A geotechnical study was coordinated and obtained by Cameron Engineering to develop and design a special grade beam/spread footing foundation system devised to resist the pre-engineered building’s loads. The intricacies of this project required an intense coordination level between Owner, Architect, pre-engineered building manufacturer and Cameron Engineering.
