Improving the efficiency of indoor and exterior lighting is one of the simplest, yet most effective changes to be made by municipalities as well as commercial and residential property owners. For example, the typical LED street light uses 50 percent less energy per lumen than high-pressure sodium lighting, has an average lifespan 10 years longer than conventional lighting, and lower maintenance costs.
